What can I expect?

Dress Code – People come to worship service wearing a mix of things. Some people love to wear a suit or dress and some people feel more comfortable in jeans. You decide.

How long is the service? The service runs about an hour. Sometimes with a celebration service or a festival service like Christmas or Easter the service may run a few minutes longer.

Are there greeters? Yes, there is always someone on hand to give you a bulletin, welcome you and ask you if you would like someone to sit with you to help along with the service.

Is there communion? Yes, every Sunday there is communion. You are invited to take communion no matter what church you belong to. If you don’t want to participate, simply stay seated. What is communion?

I have young children, is there something for them?

                         St. Peter’s Sunday School and Children’s Church

Sunday school is up and running for the fall.  Children in third grade and up are invited to join Eric Valentine and Jeff Hickey in the Parish House at 10 am for a new program on the New Testament.  Children’s church for pre-school through second grade continues to meet at 10:45 in the basement classroom with Suzanne Frund as our new principle teacher.  Suzanne brings much to the program with her professional background as owner of the Child of the Light Montessori School. Teacher Assistants and other helpers are needed for both programs so please let Gail Kohlhorst or the church office know if you can help out.

St. James’ Sunday School

Following the 9:00 am worship service children and adults have Sunday school in the Fellowship Hall (snacks are offered).

I have an infant, is a place and care for them? Children of all ages area welcome to come. At St. Peter’s there is a social room if they need a break, a changing table in the bathroom and a high chair.

Are there handicapped provisions? At. St. Peter’s there is a handicapped ramp located on High Street. At St. James’ the church is ground level and all on one floor. St. James’ also has a separate Fellowship Hall where meetings, after church socials and Adult Sunday School. There is parking right up front, handicapped parking spaces and again, it’s ground level and all on one floor.

Where do we park? Parking at St. Peter’s in along High and King Streets. There is also a church lot located on Old Queen Ally next the to Lutheran Parish House. These spaces are marked for church usage. At St. James’ there are two parking lots, one behind the church and another in front of the Fellowship Hall.

Stay and meet the congregation. You are always invited after church to meet the members. St. Peter’s has  socials after some worship service where members meet and greet with coffee and something sweet to eat. St. James’ has a Sunday social on the first Sunday of the month.
